A Word from today...
"Faith faces the fact that there is no formula."
This was one of the points that Beth Moore made today in her Living Proof Live Simulcast.
{It was amazing, by the way}.
Truth is I am a formula kind of girl.
I always have been.
I love math.
I love science.
I love equations and one right answer.
I love working a problem and finding the solution.
I love the satisfaction that comes when that solution is the right one.
I love black and white.
I love when A + B = C
I love following a recipe to a perfected result.
The problem is... for much of life there is no formula.
No perfected recipe.
Trust me I have searched for a lot of them.
And there is nothing in this world that I have searched a formula for more than parenting.
I want to know the recipe.
I have read books.
I have gone to seminars.
I have taken Bible studies and Sunday school classes.
I have watched other families.
I have asked a lot of questions and heard countless answers.
I have listened to radio programs.
I have prayed and prayed for the Lord to reveal to me the formula.
I want to know that if you do this + this and - this and that; that the guaranteed result will be kids who love the Lord and love others, who passionately pursue Him; kids with integrity and strength of character and increasing faith, who lead productive, joy-filled, abundant lives bearing much fruit for His glory.
Who doesn't want that formula?
That seems like a good thing to desire. Right?
Today Beth Moore shared that when I want a formula, I am trying to control God.
And she is right.
Ouch.
I CANNOT control God. {nor do I want to}
And He knows that if there was a formula for that... I would seek the formula and the results instead of Him.
I would desire the outcome more than I desire Him.
But God's Word tells me to SEEK HIM first and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto me.
Faith trusts in Him who is Sovereign.
Faith trusts that He is good.
Faith knows that God cannot fail me.
Faith chooses the Creator over the created.
Faith seeks the Blesser not the blessing.
Faith chooses obedience and leaves the results up to God.
Faith faces the fact that there is no formula. Got it Beth.
Lord forgive me for seeking a formula instead of YOU.
Give me ever-increasing faith.
Use me for Your Glory.
